My favorite win was…

Today I read a joyous e-mail.  In the e-mail, a team lead celebrated a hard-fought-for success and thanked the team members who helped the team win.

For years to come, that team lead will remember this win.  That’s the great part about capturing and celebrating your wins; they stick with you.

What’s your favorite driving change win?

I find it hard to pick a favorite, but one of my best wins happened last March when I listened to Professor Kotter praise the great people of our Guiding Coalition.  They work so hard and truly deserved his praise.

Now that I went first, it’s your turn.

What’s your favorite win and why?

  1. Definitely “I am Strong”… When I was first introduced to the strengths based approach, I immediately thought, “no way will this ever work at my organization.” This organization is so traditional and so focused on overcoming weakness that I felt we weren’t ready. I didn’t think my company was ready to hear that people should “find out what they don’t like doing and stop doing it.”

After “sneezing” it to several people (including April), it got ingrained into a guiding coalition team and took off.

To date, close to 1,500 people in my organization have discovered their strengths and more are coming each day. As a result, our organization is becoming stronger and employees are more engaged.
