Relaunch of Engine-for-Change

Welcome to the new Engine-for-Change.  After almost 12 years, it seemed time for an upgrade.

This site started in December 2009 with a simple post “Welcome to Engine for Change.”  I said:

Welcome to Engine-For-Change.com, my new weblog and site for all things related to helping you drive the personal, community or workplace change you want.  In the coming days, weeks, months, years (eek!) I’ll tell you stories, share thoughts and insights, and–I hope–keep you coming back to read more.

“Eek!” is right. Looking back on nearly 12 years, I see 675 posts, two books, countless outstanding changes (including the playground and the daycare center), a big job change, two moves, and founding Gully Crest Homestead, plus 2 more kids (one who turns 10 in a few weeks).  God has blessed me so much, and you’ve been with me for parts or all of that journey. I treasure you all.

Just imagine all that we’ll accomplish and record together in the next 12 years and beyond.

The future still frightened me in 2009.  I knew it had a lot of promise, but I desperately wanted to see around the bend, eager to learn what the treasure or danger was just beyond. Now, I don’t push to see around the turns of life.  Instead, I focus on all that the past offers, all that the present delivers, and let God ready the future whatever it may be. I fear nothing that comes next, because God is with me and so are so many of you.

When Ted was born, we were given a Bible verse to hang next to his neonatal ICU bed. I’ve kept that verse in my heart ever since. I reference it often and I will let it be the verse that guides me in the next years here at Engine-for-Change.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans for your future and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

God’s got the future.  Our job as change agents is to live the Change Agent’s Motto and,

Do what we can, with what we have, where we are.

I’m energized to start on that together again. Thank you for joining me.
