Here’s what the first message said,
Back in December 2009, I launched Engine-For-Change.com and wrote,
Welcome to Engine-For-Change.com, my new weblog and site for all things related to helping you drive the personal, community or workplace change you want. In the coming days, weeks, months, years (eek!) I’ll tell you stories, share thoughts and insights, and–I hope–keep you coming back to read more.
Welcome to all my old friends and my co-workers. Now we’ll finally have a place to store all those stories I tell you over and over again.
Welcome to all new arrivals. I hope you’ll find some information here worth using and worth sharing. I can’t promise genius (for that see Seth Godin’s blog), just a willing and open heart committed to sharing what I’ve found works in making the best of my workplace, community, family and me.
Let’s get started.
Today, over three years later, I’m pleased to launch Engine-For-Change-News, a newsletter devoted to bringing you the stories you’ll want to tell over and over again, the links that will fuel your mind, and the rants/wins/quotes/and-more that will attempt to feed your soul.
When we’re choosing a change first for ourselves then empowering others to choose the change too, we’re driving change.
When others are ordering us, compelling us, or luring us into making a change they want, they are driving people.
The world is dominated by people driving people to change and they are failing to see the changes they want. Various sources suggest anywhere from 50 to 85% of change efforts fail to achieve the results desired. Yet, people keep driving people.
We know there is a better way.
When we choose the change for ourselves and say, “Who wants to join me, partner with me, try with me?” we find others willing to change too. Together we change quickly. Together we accomplish remarkable things. Together we put our dents in the universe.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
Let’s shine brightly together. Why not try?
